Creazioni Digitali, at the cutting-edge of digital textile since 2006, created GreenDrop

Creazioni Digitali was one of the first companies to introduce the digital textile printing system to the Como industrial district. The first step in this type of printing consists of dye-sublimation printing, where the design is first printed on paper and then transferred onto the fabric by means of a heat press.

In 2006, we began by printing samples. It was the optimal solution because digital printing does not require traditional preparation methods (transparencies and frames).

Our progress has been fast and unstoppable, also thanks to the evolution of technologies.

Today, we dye-sublimation print approximately 2.5 million metres per year. We achieve this in a 000 m2 factory in Lurate Caccivio located in the province of Como. Almost 40 people work with us who share our unending passion for our work and innovation.

The GreenDrop Project: looking towards the future

GreenDrop means digital textile printing using pigments.

3 conditions made the realisation of this project possible: the technological evolution; the innovative mentality of Creazioni Digitali; and the increased sensitivity towards sustainable solutions.

We had already gained experience and achieved some success as innovators, however, we were not satisfied. So, from 2015, we began conceiving new resolutions that would bring a wider range of solutions to digital textile printing.

Given the technological evolution, we have begun to experiment by using pigments in the previously exclusive scope of traditional printing - with frames or cylinders.

Today, GreenDrop is ready for production and is perfectly aligned with saving water and reducing the emission of harmful substances into the environment.

GreenDrop advantages: digital printing on a wide range of multi-fibre fabrics

The main advantage of digital pigment printing, in comparison to other types of traditional printing, is the possibility of printing on multi-fibre fabrics.

We are testing a large number of combinations, both at the suggestion of our clients and by independently choosing the most in-demand fabrics on the market.

Naturally, there are some differences with respect to screen printing. However, the partnership we established with Epson Italia through its subsidiaries F.lli Robustelli and FOR.TEX allows us to make continuous progress, based on the evolution of the machinery, the print heads and inks.

We believe that digital is the future of textile printing technology and that it will continuously offer new opportunities and more efficient and reliable solutions.

The digital pigment is SmartWater: no steam, no wash

SmartWater Style, as we have defined it. A way of understanding processes that depended on a way of thinking that always seeks to employ sustainability intelligently.

It is easy to talk about sustainability and just as easy to make yourself understood because the word is on everyone's lips. But what does it actually mean to implement sustainable processes?

It means, first and foremost, relying on innovative technology, requesting that it be efficient and improve processes, as well as to take into account scrap and waste levels. In terms of energy, materials or time.

In the specific case of GreenDrop, sustainability is achieved by saving water, simplifying the process and minimising emissions.

Therefore, sustainability is achieved for the company and the whole of society.

Certifications

Everything we have said so far about eco-sustainability also needs a guarantee tHat goes beyond our claims. For this we have activated an extended plan to obtain the most important certifications: Oeko-Tex, GRS, GOTS and ZDHC

1. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 (Obtained in 2019)

https://www.oeko-tex.com

It certifies that a textile article has been tested for harmful substances and that, therefore, it is deemed harmless in human ecological terms. The test takes into account numerous regulated and unregulated substances, which can be harmful to people's health. The criteria are updated at least once a year.

2. Global Recycle Standard (GRS) (Obtained in 2019)

https://www.textileexchange.org

Certifies products obtained from recycling materials and manufacturing activities. It promotes products made with recycled materials, in compliance with environmental and social criteria that extends to all stages of the production chain.

3. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) (Obtained in 2019)

https://www.global-standard.org

It's the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. Includes ecological and social principles.

4. ZDHC (in the final acceptance phase)

https://www.roadmaptozero.com

This is not a certification but a protocol, a series of guidelines that enables us to create a global eco-system that brings together all organisations. The guidelines transform the way chemicals are used. We are waiting to get the ZDHC Accepted Status.

Tools

Our customers have several tools available to ensure their work is effective in digital textile pigment printing.

The first is our workshop which, at the request of the customer, is able to test the result of digital pigment printing on the fabric of their choice. Our R&D department produces a print sample. Subsequently, it is sent to an external laboratory (FOR.TEX) which undertakes to produce a series of rubbing resistance tests, light tests, etc.

The second tool is the gallery of tests (preliminary and not definitive) carried out on various fabrics on our website (https://greendrop.it/it/laboratorio). They serve as an initial reference to understand if a fabric that is being considered by the client can obtain a reliable print with the GreenDrop method. Later, clients can request a complete test from our R&D department. The gallery is constantly evolving.
